Music has a way of breaking barriers that politics cannot. This was proved once again when Indian indie singer Talwinder made a surprise appearance at Pakistani artist Hasan Raheem’s concert in Toronto, Canada, and the internet has not stopped talking about it since.

The historic moment took place at the History venue in Toronto during the North American leg of Raheem’s DKP Tour. The two artists shared a stage for the very first time, despite fans having streamed their cross-border hit “Wishes” millions of times.

Talwinder, born Talwinder Singh Sidhu on 23 November 1997 in Tarn Taran Sahib, Punjab, is known for blending electronic sounds, hip-hop, and Punjabi music. He grew up partly in the San Francisco Bay Area, which heavily influenced his unique fusion style. He collaborated with Hasan Raheem on “Wishes” and “Tera Chehra,” with “Wishes” becoming the second most-streamed song on Spotify in Pakistan in 2024, despite being released in 2023.
During the concert, the crowd went wild as both artists performed together on stage. Raheem introduced Talwinder to the audience as his “brother from another mother,” and the two even hugged each other. They were also seen vibing to classic Punjabi anthems like Abrar-ul-Haq’s “Nach Punjaban” backstage and on stage.

Social media was flooded with clips of the performance, with fans across South Asia calling it a “win for music.”
The moment was more than just a concert highlight; it was a reminder that when two artists from neighboring countries unite through shared culture and music, borders simply fade away.
