10-Year-Old Blind Boy from Algeria Memorizes the Holy Quran by Listening to Radio

A heartwarming story from Algeria has touched millions of hearts around the world. A 10-year-old blind boy has memorized the entire Holy Quran — not through a teacher, not through books, but simply by listening to radio recitation. The young child from Algeria memorized the complete Holy Quran with Tajweed, the proper rules of recitation, a feat that even many sighted adults with formal training find extremely difficult to achieve.

The child was born without the ability to see, which meant that, traditionally, reading the Quran was never an option. Instead, his family tuned a radio to a channel that broadcasts Quranic recitation around the clock. Day after day, the boy listened carefully and quietly committed every verse to memory.

Algeria has a deeply rooted culture of Quranic learning. The country is home to Abdul Rahman Farih, who holds the Guinness World Record for becoming the youngest Hafiz-e-Quran in the world at just three years old, completing the full memorization purely through listening. This latest story of the 10-year-old blind boy adds another beautiful chapter to Algeria’s proud Quranic heritage.

Throughout Islamic history, there has long been a rich tradition of blind reciters of the Quran, as the loss of sight often strengthens the power of listening and memory, deepening a person’s spiritual connection to the sacred text.

This young Algerian boy’s achievement is a reminder that disability does not limit devotion. His story has inspired Muslims worldwide, proving that when the heart is open, the words of Allah find their way in, through whatever means Allah wills
