Hina Parvez Butt Slams Plan to Make Drama on Drug Dealer Pinky, Calls It Shameful and Irresponsible

Pakistan is buzzing with a new and deeply controversial entertainment debate. Reports surfaced this week that Geo Entertainment’s production house, 7th Sky Entertainment, is planning a television biopic based on the life of alleged drug dealer Anmol, popularly known as “Pinky.” Renowned actress Saba Qamar is reportedly set to portray the alleged drug queenpin, with the script being written by prominent journalist Shahzeb Khanzada, who previously wrote the hit drama Case No. 9, which also starred Qamar.

Anmol “Pinky” first made national headlines after her arrest in Karachi on May 12, 2026, during a police raid. The case quickly became one of the most widely discussed drug investigations in Pakistan. Officials say 28 criminal cases were registered against her between 2018 and 2026 in Karachi and Lahore, with multiple agencies, including the FIA and Anti-Narcotics Force, now involved in the ongoing inquiry.

The announcement immediately triggered strong criticism from public figures. Punjab Women Protection Authority Chairperson and PML-N leader Hina Parvez Butt took to social media, saying: “If a drama is really being made on Pinky, it is extremely shameful and irresponsible. Pinky is not a role model worthy of having a drama produced about her. This is an insult to all those women who have served society with dignity and dedication.”

She urged the media and entertainment industry to reconsider its priorities, warning that promoting controversial figures purely for ratings and financial gain encourages harmful trends in society.

Actor and filmmaker Shamoon Abbasi also publicly questioned the ethics of producing such a project, asking why countless other women-centric, inspiring stories were being overlooked in favour of a criminal’s biography.

The debate has divided social media, with supporters arguing it raises important awareness, while critics insist the case is still under trial and glamorising it sends the wrong message to Pakistani audiences.
