Pakistani actress Mamya Shajaffar, known for her bold personality and strong on-screen presence, has found herself at the centre of a controversy that quickly took an unexpected turn.
In a recent interview with host Iffat Omar, Mamya revealed that a young actor named Arslan Khan had approached her after seeing her social media profile, apparently assuming she would be very approachable. She said he used abusive words toward her on the set where they worked together, after she refused to allow him to come near or touch her. She added that, like many men in Pakistan, he wrongly assumed he would get something from her.

Once the clip went viral, the internet immediately assumed she was referring to actor Arslan Khan, the same Arslan Khan who worked with her in College Gate and is also known as Hira Khan’s husband. The assumption spread rapidly, causing serious damage to his reputation online.

However, Mamya quickly stepped in to post a clarification, confirming that the Arslan she was speaking about was not him. Arslan Khan himself responded by thanking Mamya for the clarification and urged people to be more careful when reading such reports, warning that they can destroy someone’s hard work and reputation.
Host Iffat Omar also came forward and confirmed to Kluchit that the actor Mamya had been referring to in the interview was Arsalan Butt, not Arslan Khan.
The incident highlights a serious problem: how quickly a name can be misread in viral content and the real damage that follows before the truth catches up.
While Mamya’s original allegation of harassment remains a serious matter, the case is also now a reminder of how responsible sharing and reading of news matters greatly in the age of social media.
