The White House and Donald Trump’s campaign have quietly removed Taylor Swift’s songs from several videos posted on social media. The removals came after Trump-affiliated accounts used Swift tracks in TikTok videos featuring the president. One video used her song “August” with clips of Trump and Melania Trump, while another video used words and titles from her Red album to mock political rivals.
The videos themselves are still online. Only the music has been taken out or muted. So far, neither the White House nor Swift’s representatives have commented on the changes.

This is not the first time Swift’s music and Trump have crossed paths. Swift endorsed Kamala Harris in the 2024 election, and Trump criticized her publicly afterward. She had also spoken out against him back in 2020. Even so, the White House used songs from her 2025 album, The Life of a Showgirl, in earlier posts, despite their political differences.
Swift is not the only artist affected by this kind of issue. In June, Ariana Grande criticized the White House after her song appeared in a video about immigration, and that audio was later taken down too.
The situation highlights a bigger question: can political campaigns freely use popular songs in their online posts, especially when the artist has not agreed to support them? As more politicians use music to grab attention on social media, these kinds of disputes may keep happening.
