Muntaha Zahra Murder: 7-Year-Old Girl Raped and Killed in Sargodha Shop

In a heartbreaking incident in Sargodha, seven-year-old Muntaha Zahra, a Class 2 student, was allegedly raped and murdered on June 22, 2026. The young girl left her home to buy something from a nearby shop but never returned. Her family found her body on the third floor of the same shop after a search. Police said she was lured by men working at the store.

Initial reports said two shop employees were arrested right away. The main suspect, Muhammad Arslan, fled but was caught later using modern technology. On June 23, Arslan confessed to the crime during police questioning. Four suspects, including Arslan, were presented in court and given six days of remand to the Crime Control Department for further investigation. Police have promised strict punishment and are collecting forensic evidence. The girl’s funeral was held with a large crowd, and she was buried amid deep grief.

This case has reminded many of the 2018 Zainab Ansari tragedy, sparking widespread anger across Pakistan. CCTV footage showing the innocent child entering the shop has gone viral, increasing public outrage.

Pakistani celebrities and social media users have expressed strong shock. Actors like Iqra Aziz and Mishi Khan, who have previously spoken out against violence against women and children in similar cases (such as domestic abuse and assaults), call for quick justice and better protection for girls. Iqra says, “Will this end? There is no answer because everyone knows that the culprit will never be caught and punished.” Many stars demand harsher laws and faster action from authorities to stop such crimes.

What is happening in Pakistan? Why do such brutal crimes against children keep happening? Who is to blame, the criminals, weak law enforcement, slow justice system, or society that fails to protect its most innocent? Many ask why parents cannot feel safe sending their children to a simple shop. This tragedy raises serious questions about child safety, police efficiency, and the need for stronger child protection laws.

The nation mourns little Muntaha and demands justice so no other child suffers like this.
