Muneeb Butt in Legal Trouble: ATC Grants Bail in Shocking Kidnapping Allegation

Popular Pakistani actor Muneeb Butt has been granted interim bail by a Karachi Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in connection with an alleged short-term kidnapping and robbery case. The news has sent shockwaves through Pakistan’s entertainment industry.

The Incident

The Airport police registered the case last month on the complaint of a man named Mutaal Khan, who stated that on April 22, while travelling in a cab to the airport, a double-cabin vehicle carrying four armed men intercepted his car and abducted him at gunpoint, claiming he had been involved in an accident.

The complainant said the abductors took him to different locations, snatched his mobile phone, transferred 8,600 USDT from his account, took his laptop, and later dropped him in the Korangi Industrial Area before fleeing.

Where Does Muneeb Butt Fit In?

Police apprehended four suspects, Hamza, Saalim, Shahid, and Wazir, and also booked a police constable and actor Muneeb Butt in the case. The investigating officer alleged that Muneeb facilitated at least two of the suspects while they were hiding in Islamabad.

However, the complainant’s counsel admitted he was still uncertain whether the actor had any direct involvement in the crime.

Legal Proceedings

Muneeb first secured protective bail from the Islamabad High Court, then surrendered before the Karachi ATC. The court granted him interim bail against a surety bond of Rs100,000 and fixed June 8 for the next hearing.

The case was registered under Sections 365-A (kidnapping for extortion), 392 (robbery), and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code, along with Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act.

The case is ongoing, and Muneeb has not been convicted. The next court date will determine whether his bail is confirmed.
