The legal dispute between Pakistani actress Momina Iqbal and Punjab Assembly member Saqib Chadhar has taken another turn, with the MPA making fresh claims in a recent interview about Momina’s sister, Rimsha Iqbal.
Chadhar claimed that he was the one who helped send Rimsha to Australia for higher education and that he arranged a job for her at his security company there. He further alleged that Rimsha later filed a harassment case in Australia against his business partner, initially seeking a large settlement before the matter was resolved for a smaller amount.
These statements come amid a wider, ongoing legal battle between the two families. The controversy began earlier this year when Momina Iqbal said on social media that a sitting or former MPA had been harassing her, a claim that eventually led to Chadhar’s name coming forward and the case being taken to Pakistan’s National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA). Since then, both sides have filed complaints against each other, including disputes over money transfers and allegations involving Rimsha’s visa and bank accounts.
Rimsha Iqbal, who is also a lawyer representing her sister in the case, has firmly denied Chadhar’s claims. She has called the allegations baseless, asked for documented proof to be presented, and said she supported herself through part-time work while studying in Australia. The matter has also drawn attention from Pakistan’s legal community, with the Punjab Bar Council recently ordering all lawyers connected to the case to stop discussing it publicly until disciplinary proceedings are complete.
As the case continues, both families remain firm in their opposing versions of events.
