Ali Zafar Made Bold Claims & Internet’s Not Buying It

Pakistani singer and actor Ali Zafar has sparked a major social media debate after making a surprising claim in a recent interview. Speaking to host Omar Malik on OTV Channel, Zafar revealed that Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan had personally expressed a desire for him to sing the iconic track Dard-E-Disco from the 2007 Bollywood blockbuster Om Shanti Om. Zafar said the collaboration never happened because he was not available in India at the time the song’s production was being finalised.

Dard-E-Disco is one of the most memorable songs from Om Shanti Om, which was directed by Farah Khan and produced by Shah Rukh’s wife, Gauri Khan, under their Red Chillies Entertainment banner. The song’s vocals were ultimately provided by Sukhwinder Singh, Marianne, Nisha, and Caralisa.

The claim immediately triggered a wave of scepticism and mockery online, with social media users flooding comment sections with memes and sarcastic responses, questioning whether the story was exaggerated. However, a segment of Zafar’s loyal fans argued that his vocal style would actually have been a strong fit for the track.

Beyond the music controversy, the interview also touched on deeply personal territory. Zafar spoke candidly about the emotional toll of the harassment allegations made against him by singer Meesha Shafi, describing the ordeal as painful and draining. He noted that a Lahore court recently ruled in his favour in the defamation case, which he called a vindication of the truth.

The interview has reignited public interest in Ali Zafar and reminded audiences of his once-thriving cross-border career in Bollywood.
