Ali Haider Returns After 10 Years With New Song Ijazat

One of Pakistan’s most beloved pop voices has finally broken his long silence. Singer Ali Haider has returned to the musical spotlight with the release of his new song Ijazat, marking his first major comeback in nearly a decade and drawing strong engagement across social media platforms within days of its launch.

The track quickly trended on YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram, with listeners praising its melody, restrained production, and Haider’s instantly recognisable vocals, which many described as retaining the emotional clarity that once defined 1990s Pakistani pop music.

The accompanying music video was filmed and produced in Houston, Texas, where viewers applauded the visual quality, polished performances, and restrained storytelling, calling the project a sincere artistic return rather than a recycled nostalgic attempt.

The story behind his absence is deeply personal. During a podcast conversation in 2025, Haider spoke about rising security threats and persistent extortion demands that created an unsafe environment for his household. He revealed that intimidation forced his father to close a family printing business, while threatening calls began affecting his personal emotional stability.

Those turbulent years led him toward spiritual expression, where he found temporary solace through reciting Hamd, Naat, and other forms of religious poetry. His mother eventually insisted he prioritise safety, and he left Pakistan in 2013.

Decades after his rise to fame, his sound continues to resonate across borders, suggesting that melody and emotional honesty remain powerful currencies in a rapidly changing music scene. With Ijazat, Ali Haider is not just releasing a song; he is reclaiming his rightful place in Pakistani music.
