Pakistani actor Omair Rana has spoken candidly about what he sees as society’s pressure to get married without any real preparation for the responsibilities that follow. He shared his views during an appearance on the morning show “Good Morning Pakistan,” hosted by Nida Yasir.
Rana said that in Pakistani society, marriage is often treated as the ultimate goal in life, a theme he noted is reflected heavily in local dramas. He pointed out that despite this obsession, couples are rarely taught about the responsibilities that come with married life. He argued that after marriage, women in particular face pressure to quickly become mothers, even though parenting itself requires skills nobody prepares them for.
Drawing a comparison to the corporate world, he said no one would promote an unqualified person to a leadership role, yet children are often raised by parents who haven’t been equipped for the task. He advised people to choose life partners by imagining them as future co-parents, rather than rushing into relationships based on infatuation.
Known for his strong performances in dramas like “Sang-e-Mah,” “Hum Kahan Ke Sachay Thay,” and “Ishq Murshid,” Rana has built a reputation for playing complex and often negative characters. He is married to Maira Rana and is a father of two.
