Pakistani actor and TV host Adnan Siddiqui recently spoke about the possibility of Indian reality TV star Rakhi Sawant joining his show, Tamasha. Sawant had earlier said she wished the show was filmed in Dubai so she could take part and make the whole world “go mad.”
Speaking on Maliha Rehman’s podcast, Gloss Etc, Siddiqui was asked whether he could handle Sawant on set. He replied that it would be “very difficult” for her to join a Pakistani show these days, but added that it would be “very entertaining” if she ever did.
Siddiqui also shared that Tamasha has been popular with Indian audiences since its very first season. He recalled getting a phone call from well-known Indian comedian Johnny Lever, who praised him for doing a great job on the show. Siddiqui said comments from Indian viewers, now that the show is in its fifth season, made him proud and touched.
Tamasha follows the same format as the Dutch show Big Brother, which has versions in many countries. In India, this format is known as Bigg Boss, hosted by Bollywood star Salman Khan. During the podcast, Siddiqui was also asked if he copies Khan’s style when he scolds contestants. He said he sees nothing wrong with that, calling Khan a huge inspiration.
Siddiqui pointed out that his show works with a much smaller budget and team compared to bigger international versions, yet still manages to compete. He compared the quality difference to a score, saying if similar foreign shows are a “20,” Tamasha is close behind at an “18.”
