Ushna Shah Questions Society’s Priorities After Comparing Podcast Backlash to Muntaha’s Case

Pakistani actress Ushna Shah has once again spoken up about violence against children, this time pointing a finger at society’s misplaced priorities. In a recent statement, Shah said she has seen more public anger over Nisha Khan’s podcast than over the murder case of seven-year-old Muntaha, a young girl from Sargodha whose tragic death shook the nation in June 2026.

Muntaha went missing on June 22 after she left home to visit a nearby shop. Her body was later found in a building close to her house. Police arrested a suspect, identified as Arsalan, and the case drew massive outrage across Pakistan, with many demanding swift justice for the child.

Shah’s comment highlights what she sees as a troubling pattern in Pakistani society, quick to react to celebrity gossip and entertainment controversies, but slow to demand real accountability for crimes against children. She has previously called out the lack of meaningful action in Pakistani society in response to such incidents, saying Pakistanis tend to blame victims and express outrage online without pushing for actual legal reform or stronger punishments.

This is not the first time Shah has used her platform to criticize social hypocrisy. She has consistently spoken out on issues ranging from animal cruelty to violence against women, often urging people to convert online anger into real, lasting change.

Her latest remarks have sparked fresh conversation online, with many agreeing that Pakistan’s outrage culture often targets the wrong issues, while serious crimes against children fail to get the sustained attention and justice they truly deserve.
