Meera Wants to Play Maryam Nawaz in a Biopic, Calls Her “Mother of Pakistan”

Pakistani actress Meera has made headlines after reportedly saying she would love to play Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz in a film based on her life. In recent remarks that quickly spread on social media, Meera praised the PML-N leader in glowing terms, going as far as calling her the “Mother of Pakistan.”

This is not the first time Meera has spoken warmly about Maryam Nawaz. The actress has previously shared her admiration for the Chief Minister, even interacting with her on social media in the past. Her latest comments have once again put the spotlight on the idea of a biopic based on Maryam Nawaz’s political journey.

Talk of a possible Maryam Nawaz biopic is not new in Pakistan’s entertainment circles. Several other celebrities have weighed in with their own casting picks over the past few years. Filmmaker Nadeem Baig had earlier suggested actress Hania Aamir for the role, saying she closely resembles Maryam. PML-N leader Muhammad Zubair had separately named Mahira Khan as his top choice for a potential biopic.

However, no official film project on Maryam Nawaz’s life has been announced by any production house so far. These remain informal remarks and wishes expressed by celebrities and political figures during interviews and public appearances.

Meera, known for her decades-long career in Lollywood and Bollywood, remains one of Pakistan’s most talked-about actresses, often making headlines for her statements as much as her films.
