Iqra Kanwal, Husband Areeb’s Bail Verdict Reserved in Gambling Case

A sessions court in Lahore has reserved its verdict on the interim bail applications filed by social media influencer Iqra Kanwal and her husband, Areeb Parvaiz, in a case linked to the alleged promotion of an online gambling app. Additional Sessions Judge Nusrat Ali Siddiqui heard the bail pleas, during which the accused appeared before the court and completed their attendance. Their lawyer, Advocate Muhammad Saleem, presented arguments on their behalf, after which the court reserved its decision on the interim bail requests.

The case was registered against the TikTokers by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) over allegations related to the promotion of an online gambling app.

Iqra Kanwal, known online as Sistrology, has been under NCCIA’s radar for months. The agency had first summoned her in an inquiry launched in August 2025, but she could not appear at the time, citing pregnancy and doctor’s advice for rest. Later, in September 2025, the NCCIA registered an FIR against Kanwal along with two other influencers for allegedly promoting illegal gambling applications, claiming they had been summoned three times but avoided joining the inquiry.

This case is part of a wider crackdown by the NCCIA against social media personalities accused of promoting betting and gambling platforms to young audiences in Pakistan, an issue that has drawn growing public criticism in recent months.
