Suneel Munj, a well-known Pakistani businessman, is facing online trolling after launching an unusual promotional offer during the FIFA World Cup season. Munj is the co-founder and director of PakWheels, Pakistan’s largest online automotive marketplace. He is also known across South Asia for his “Owner’s Review” video series, where he reviews cars for buyers. Besides this, he runs several showrooms and workshops across the country.
To celebrate the World Cup, Munj announced a special deal for his customers. Under the offer, anyone who shops worth Rs. 20,000 or more would get a chance to receive a football personally signed by him. He shared a video showing himself signing multiple footballs, styling the moment in a way that resembled famous footballers like Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
However, instead of praise, the offer triggered heavy criticism on social media. Many users questioned why Munj compared himself to football stars when he has no connection to the sport. Some called the idea pointless, joking that customers would have to spend a large amount of money just for a chance, through a lucky draw, to win a football with his autograph. Others mocked the entire campaign as a “failed” marketing strategy, while a few joked that his creative team might lose their jobs over the idea.
Despite the backlash, the offer has certainly succeeded in grabbing public attention.
