Veteran actress Bushra Ansari has opened up about what she calls the biggest mistake she made while choosing a husband for her daughter. She shared her thoughts during a recent appearance on the show “Good Morning Pakistan.”
Bushra explained that she and her husband raised their daughters differently from how they themselves were raised. She said, “In our time, we weren’t allowed to explore things,” recalling how she and her husband were not allowed male friends or co-education growing up. To avoid the same restrictions, they encouraged their daughters to be open with them instead of hiding things.
She recalled one incident when her husband objected to boys calling their daughter, but she convinced him to allow more freedom so their daughters wouldn’t feel the need to lie. Over time, the couple became more progressive in how they raised their children.
However, Bushra admitted that this open-mindedness led to an error in judging her future son-in-law. She said her family always valued character over wealth, believing that a good upbringing mattered more than financial status. But she confessed she made the mistake of trusting appearances, saying she assumed that if a man spoke well and came from an educated family, he must be the right match.
She also revealed a warning sign they overlooked, saying, “It was actually a major red flag, but we ignored it because we were afraid of losing the proposal,” referring to her son-in-law’s reaction whenever finances were discussed.
Bushra’s honest reflection has sparked conversation among fans about the pressures families face during marriage decisions.
