Pakistani actor Arslan Butt has sent a formal legal notice to actress Mamya Shajaffar after she publicly accused him of workplace harassment during a podcast appearance. Butt has strongly denied all allegations, calling them false and damaging to his reputation, and is demanding a public apology or he will initiate legal proceedings.
Arslan Asad Butt is a 33-year-old actor and model from Lahore. He began his career in modeling in 2012 and made his acting debut in 2014 with the drama Dhol Bajnay Laga. He has since appeared in several popular dramas, including Chupke Chupke, Bharam, Dil Diyan Gallan, and Main Haar Nahi Manoun Gi. He won the Hum Award for Best Soap Actor for his role in Naseebon Jali and also starred in the 2018 blockbuster film Parwaaz Hai Junoon.
Mamya Shajaffar (real name Maham Shahid Jaffar Khan) is a 27-year-old actress and model from Karachi. She started as a digital content creator and fashion model before entering television. She gained popularity with her double role in the Hum TV drama Meesni (2023). Her film Lali, directed by Sarmad Khoosat, premiered at the 76th Berlin International Film Festival in 2026 — the first fully Pakistani feature to do so. She is also set to star opposite Farhan Saeed in the upcoming film Luv Di Saun.
What Happened?
The controversy started when Mamya appeared on the podcast Say It All, hosted by Iffat Omar. She described her worst professional experience in the industry, alleging that a male co-star made her uncomfortable through repeated attempts at physical contact. She claimed the actor became aggressive when she maintained professional boundaries, including an incident where he allegedly shook his belt threateningly and used abusive language after she disagreed with him on a discussion about writer Saadat Hasan Manto.
Podcast host Iffat Omar later confirmed that the actor Mamya was referring to was Arslan Butt.
Arslan Butt’s Response

Arslan Butt responded by posting a formal legal notice on his Instagram. In a strongly worded statement, he denied all allegations and demanded that Mamya:
- Publicly withdraw her statements
- Remove the podcast interview
- Issue a formal public apology
He warned of defamation and criminal proceedings if his demands are not met within the given timeframe.
Current Situation
As of now, Mamya Shajaffar has not issued any public response to the legal notice. The matter remains unresolved and could potentially lead to a high-profile legal battle in Pakistan’s entertainment industry.
The case has triggered widespread discussion about workplace conduct, professional boundaries, and harassment in the Pakistani showbiz industry.
