Former world boxing champion Amir Khan is at the centre of a serious legal controversy in the United Kingdom. Court documents filed at the London High Court, as part of a defamation case involving Khan and his wife, Faryal Makhdoom, contain a series of allegations made by multiple women, all of which the couple firmly deny.
The papers were submitted as part of the defence by women’s rights activist Faryaal Hussain, who is being sued by Khan and Makhdoom over social media posts, a podcast interview in 2023, and an online petition in which she raised concerns about the boxer’s alleged exploitation of women.
The filing claims that Khan first contacted one British-Pakistani woman, referred to as Woman B, through Snapchat in 2022, with conversations continuing on WhatsApp, Instagram, and TikTok. The documents allege Khan arranged for the woman to travel to Dubai, where they had consensual sex. They further claim he filmed one encounter on a mobile phone without her knowledge or consent.
When Woman B discovered she was being filmed, she reportedly said no repeatedly and tried to hide her face, according to the documents.
Khan and Makhdoom are seeking up to £100,000 in damages, calling the allegations false, malicious, and unproven. Hussain is relying on a truth defence, arguing her statements were in the public interest.
The case remains under review at the London High Court, where both sides continue to present their legal arguments.
