Pakistan’s Got Talent Teaser Slammed as “Cheap Copy” by Netizens

Pakistan’s Got Talent, the local version of the world-famous America’s Got Talent franchise, has released its first teaser, and it is already facing heavy criticism online. The original show, created by Simon Cowell, started in 2006 and is currently airing its 21st season in the US. Over the years, the format has been adapted in many countries, including India, and now Pakistan has joined the list.

The Pakistani version will feature Mehwish Hayat, Ali Zafar, and Tabish Hashmi as judges. They will watch amateur singers, dancers, and other performers showcase their skills, while reacting to each act. The show is expected to air soon on Geo TV.

However, the newly released teaser has not gone down well with viewers. Many social media users called the show a “cheap” copy of the American and Indian versions. Some claimed the stunts shown in the clip looked fake and poorly done. Tabish Hashmi’s role as a judge also drew criticism, with users saying his reactions seemed forced and unnatural.

Several comments also compared the show to Pakistan Idol, a singing competition that was shut down midway because of budget problems, with many predicting a similar fate for this show too. One user used a popular Urdu phrase to mock how local media keeps producing content without learning from past failures.

Whether the show can win back public trust before its premiere remains to be seen.
