Ayesha Omar’s Bold Message Amid Rising Violence: Protect Daughters, Not Just Borders

Pakistani actress Ayesha Omar has once again raised her voice for women’s and children’s safety, saying that Pakistan must guard its daughters with the same seriousness it shows in guarding its borders. Her comment comes amid a disturbing rise in violence cases across the country, including the recent murders of young girls in Sargodha and Karachi that left the nation shaken.

Omar has long been one of the most vocal celebrities on this issue. Speaking about the gruesome murder in Karachi, she said the environment all over Pakistan is barbaric, adding that she felt shaken and angry, and hopeless about the country. She said that is exactly what the perpetrators want, for women to always feel fearful and hopeless. According to Omar, the only real solution is for men across the country to speak up, step up, and hold other men accountable.

This is not new ground for the actress. She has previously spoken about not feeling safe walking on Pakistan’s streets, recalling her own experiences of harassment since childhood. She has also pushed back against acid attacks, image-based abuse, and online harassment of women, repeatedly calling for stronger laws and a shift in mindset at the grassroots level.

Omar’s latest remarks reflect growing frustration among Pakistani celebrities, who argue that while the state spends heavily on national security and border protection, the safety of women and children inside their own homes and streets remains dangerously neglected. Many social media users have echoed her sentiment, calling for the same urgency in protecting daughters as the country shows in protecting its territory.
