A new Indian show is making headlines, but not for the right reasons. Qubool Hai, a new vertical micro drama starring real-life couple Mohit Sehgal and Sanaya Irani, is being accused of copying the beloved Pakistani drama Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum.
Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum is a 2024 Pakistani romantic drama starring Fahad Mustafa and Hania Aamir. It became the highest-rated Pakistani TV show since 2021, winning fans across the entire subcontinent.
The Indian show Qubool Hai appears to follow the same storyline, character dynamics, and emotional beats as the Pakistani original. From the basic setup to the relationship arc, viewers say the Indian micro drama does not just look inspired, it feels like a direct copy.
The similarities go beyond just the story. Fans have pointed out an almost identical recreation of a famous scene where Sharjeena cooks for the family, and Rubab tries to “tip” her, leading to a tense moment. Even smaller details, like the male lead’s habit of always being late, have allegedly been copied.
The internet has erupted with angry reactions. Fans of Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum feel the Indian production showed no respect for the original creators. This is not the first time either; earlier, another Indian show, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, also faced similar allegations of copying scenes from the same Pakistani drama.
