Hina Altaf Opens Up About Workplace Harassment and Why Women Must Stand Together

Pakistani actor Hina Altaf recently opened up about a frightening experience she had at her workplace. On Wednesday, she shared an Instagram story revealing that she had encountered a potential predator while working and managed to get out of the situation safely by staying alert and making a quick excuse.

While she informed the production team about the incident, Altaf said it was deeply upsetting to see what working women in Pakistan have to go through daily. She described it as “exhausting” to always stay alert, and pointed out that “being smart” had become the main way women survive in spaces where they do not feel safe.

Rather than staying silent, Altaf used her platform to send a strong message. She urged women to trust their instincts, speak up when wronged, and demand accountability. Most importantly, she called for collective action, saying women must stand together and “fight collectively” to bring real change.

Her message resonates with a bigger pattern in Pakistan’s entertainment industry. In 2021, actor Mehar Bano faced harassment on set, and it was Saba Qamar who stepped in and had the crew member removed from the project, a real example of the solidarity Altaf is calling for. More recently, Qamar’s drama Case No. 9 brought workplace harassment into mainstream conversation, showing a woman who takes her abuser to court.

Altaf’s words are a reminder that silence protects wrongdoers. When women speak up and support each other, real accountability becomes possible.
