Pakistan is set to open its first-ever Giraffe Café at Lahore Safari Park, and excitement is building fast among families, tourists, and animal lovers across the country.
The café is part of a fresh plan by Punjab authorities to turn Lahore Safari Park into a bigger tourist attraction. The idea was announced by the Punjab Chief Minister, who described raised platforms that let visitors get a safe, close-up view of the giraffes. The new giraffes recently arrived from South Africa, and this marks the first time Lahore Safari Park has hosted giraffes at all, although Lahore Zoo has kept them before.
The café design copies similar wildlife cafés already popular in Kenya and Thailand. Visitors will be able to enjoy snacks and tea while watching the giraffes from supervised viewing windows, built at a height so guests can look at the animals without entering their space. Staff and railings will help control crowd flow, and clear rules will be posted, including no touching, no flash photography, and no loud music.
Because of Lahore’s smog and poor air quality, the giraffes are currently being kept in a quarantine enclosure, where a veterinary team is monitoring their diet, behaviour, and health before they move to their new home.
Officials hope the café will bring more visitors to the park’s shops, transport, and restaurants, and could eventually lead to weekend events, conservation days, and student discounts, creating steady jobs for keepers and café staff.
For visitors planning a trip, experts suggest booking tickets online in advance, arriving early to avoid the heat, wearing comfortable shoes, carrying water, and following keeper instructions during feeding times.
