Indian composer AR Rahman has shared a tribute to legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle, recorded with her before she passed away in April this year. The teaser for the track, titled Asha Forever, was released on World Music Day 2026.
The song features Bhosle’s voice alongside musicians from London’s Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, where Rahman holds the title of Honorary President. Rather than being made as a farewell song, the track was originally planned as a celebration of Bhosle’s huge contribution to music and was recorded while she was still alive.
Rahman said Bhosle’s voice has been one of the greatest gifts to Indian and world cinema, and that it guided him throughout his own career. He recalled that she wanted the song to be fun and energetic, showing her lively spirit.

In an Instagram post, Rahman wrote that the tribute began as a dream while she was still alive, and that he had hoped she would see the love this project carries. He added that the world celebrates many musical legends, and that Bhosle’s voice became the soundtrack to countless lives.
Rahman and Bhosle worked together for decades, creating hit songs like Rangeela Re, Tanha Tanha, Kahin Aag Lage, and Radha Kaise Na Jale. The teaser also shows behind-the-scenes moments of Bhosle in the studio with Rahman, capturing their long creative bond. The full track is being seen as a heartfelt and fitting farewell to one of India’s greatest voices.
