Pakistani actress Namra Shahid has spoken openly about what she sees as a narrow career window for women in the television industry, saying that female actors often face a tough crossroads by the time they reach their mid-to-late thirties.
She pointed out that by that age, a woman in showbiz is either an established lead actress or she ends up being pushed into side characters, a reality she says is rarely talked about but widely felt.
Reflecting on her ten-year journey in the industry, Namra also highlighted how success does not always follow a fair or clear path. She said she was puzzled by how some people arrive from nowhere and immediately land lead roles in serials, while others work for years without the same recognition.
She also noted that being part of a popular drama does not always help an actor grow, because a character’s importance within the script matters just as much as the show’s overall viewership.
Namra stressed that having a proper management team and a strong support system behind the scenes is essential for building a long-term career in showbiz.
On the topic of criticism, she said she welcomes reviews and takes them positively, seeing them as motivation to work harder and deliver performances that people remember.
