Saudi Arabia Confirms More Than 15 Lakh Foreign Pilgrims Landed in Makkah For Hajj

Saudi Arabia has officially confirmed that more than 1.5 million foreign pilgrims have arrived in the Kingdom for Hajj 2026. According to recent statements, 1,518,153 international pilgrims had reached the country as of May 22, 2026, with the majority landing in Makkah and Madinah.

Most pilgrims arrived by air, with a significant number using the advanced “Mecca Route Initiative” that makes entry faster and smoother. Smaller numbers came through land and sea routes. This large gathering is taking place despite regional tensions and conflicts in the Middle East.

Hajj 2026 officially begins on May 25 and will continue until May 29. The main rituals will take place in the holy cities of Makkah and Mina. Saudi authorities have made extensive preparations, including improved transport, health services, and security, to manage the huge crowds safely.

This year’s turnout shows the strong global desire of Muslims to perform the sacred pilgrimage. Saudi officials have also warned against fake Hajj campaigns and stressed that only authorized pilgrims will be allowed to perform the rituals.

The arrival of over 15 lakh foreign pilgrims highlights the massive scale of Hajj and the Kingdom’s efficient management of one of the world’s largest annual gatherings.
