Speaking in a recent interview, she said that people living in cities usually have an easier time because education has made most people there more accepting. However, she pointed out that minorities in areas with less access to education still face serious prejudice once their religious background becomes known.
Sunita also looked back at an older interview where she was asked about having two different religions within her household. She recalled feeling confused when clips of the episode started circulating online, since fans kept tagging her without explaining why. It later turned out that the host had used a common religious phrase during the conversation, one so casual that she hadn’t even noticed it at the time, though many viewers had and were upset on her behalf.
Despite the controversy, Sunita said she held no grudge against the host, noting that “he should not have said that, and it was a lesson for him too,” adding that he later apologized publicly. She said the incident actually left her touched by how much support she received from fans across different countries, all standing behind her as a fellow Pakistani.
On the topic of public scrutiny, Sunita said it simply comes with working in the entertainment industry, and that it’s every artist’s own choice how much of their personal life to share. She also praised social media influencers who manage to build genuine followings, calling it a skill of its own, and encouraged newcomers in any field to keep learning through trial and error.
