Naeema Butt Speaks Out Against Harassment and Releases ‘Faqeera’, An Anthem for Fearless Women

Pakistani actor and activist Naeema Butt has broken her silence on social media, speaking out against what she described as harassment, blackmail, and abuse, and turning her pain into art with a powerful new song.

Butt announced a new track titled Faqeera, made in collaboration with rappers Bumb Shah and M Low, describing it as both a personal response to harassment and an anthem for women who stand firm in their beliefs.

In her message, she declared that “truth is our weapon” and addressed every harasser, blackmailer, and abuser directly, writing that while oppressors may damage reputations or hurt mental well-being, they will never crush the soul or stop the mission.

She said her decision to enter acting was driven by a desire to give voice to survivors of child abuse, rape, and acid attacks, groups she has worked closely with and consistently advocated for.

Naeema also recalled being forced to leave Pakistan eight years ago after she publicly supported a ban on open acid sales, saying she faced serious backlash for that stance. Recent events, she said, prompted her to speak out again about her own personal experiences.

She spoke honestly about the pressures of working in the entertainment industry, saying she has said no to many people and resisted those she described as oppressors, while also noting that jealousy and rivalry can sometimes be used as tools to damage reputations.

Addressing violence against women more broadly, she warned that acid attacks and targeted abuse are often used to silence those who speak out, and stressed that such actions must never be normalised.

She dedicated Faqeera to women who stand on righteousness without fear, encouraging them to keep asserting their rights and identities despite all adversity. The song, she said, is also a wider statement against attempts to silence women in showbiz.
