Rabi Pirzada Showcases Rare Leather Calligraphy

Former Pakistani singer and TV host Rabi Pirzada, who has now fully turned to art and spirituality, recently shared her unique leather calligraphy artwork online, drawing attention for how it blends Islamic art, faith, and Pakistani cultural values in one piece. Rabi has been practicing Arabic calligraphy since 2019 and has since created many pieces inspired by Quranic verses, but her leather-based calligraphy stands out as a distinctive craft that few artists in Pakistan are exploring.

In this form of art, Quranic verses and Islamic phrases are hand-inscribed on high-quality leather instead of the usual canvas. The natural texture and rich tone of the leather give the calligraphy a unique, antique feel, making each piece look both elegant and deeply spiritual. Rabi has created several such artworks, including calligraphy of Surah Ar-Rahman, Ayat-ul-Kursi, and other verses, each carefully handcrafted with attention to detail.

Beyond just showcasing her own talent, Rabi encouraged others, especially young and upcoming artists, to learn and explore this rare style of calligraphy. She believes that combining traditional Islamic art with local craftsmanship like leatherwork can help preserve cultural heritage while also creating something modern and meaningful.

Rabi’s journey from being a pop singer to becoming a respected artist and calligrapher has been widely noticed in Pakistan. She now sells her paintings and calligraphy pieces partly to support charitable causes through her foundation, which works for the education and welfare of underprivileged children. Her leather calligraphy series continues to gain appreciation from art lovers who see it as a fresh and meaningful addition to Islamic art.
