Pakistani actress and host Javeria Saud has opened up about using photo filters on her pictures and how her own children strongly disapprove of it.
Javeria said her kids often fight with her when she uses filters on her photos, asking her why she does it and whether she is not satisfied with Allah’s creation. She revealed that her children are so against the habit that they once deleted the filter app from her phone, but she quietly downloaded it again.
Javeria also spoke about the wider issue of unrealistic beauty standards in Pakistan. She said many people in the country are obsessed with looking like Bollywood actresses such as Kajol, Kareena Kapoor, and Katrina Kaif, and often change their faces to match this ideal.
She did not stop at filters. Javeria pointed out that many girls are also obsessed with having a size-zero body, believing it makes them look more beautiful. She warned that this is especially risky for women after the age of 30, since extreme dieting causes them to lose collagen and muscle, leaving them looking unhealthy rather than attractive.
Her comments reflect a growing conversation in Pakistan about beauty pressures created by social media and constant comparison with celebrities. Many parents and children today are having open conversations about self-image, and Javeria’s honesty about her own struggle with filters has resonated with many who feel similar pressure to alter their appearance online.
