Pakistani actress Saboor Aly has joined a growing wave of public criticism over the unsolved murder of Mir Raza Ali, a young Karachi entrepreneur whose death is still under investigation.
Saboor reposted a reel that draws a pointed comparison between two stories that broke around the same time. Former cricketer Wasim Akram’s pet dog, Duke, went missing from Karachi’s DHA Phase 8 area. His family offered a reward of Rs 250,000, and Duke was found safe within just one day.
Around the same period, Mir Raza Ali, the 25-year-old founder of the Wafflix dessert chain, went missing from his PECHS home early one morning. He was later found dead near Gulistan-i-Jauhar. A case was registered on suspicion of abduction and murder, but weeks later, the case remains unresolved.
The reel Saboor shared highlights the painful contrast: a pet was traced in a day, while a young man’s killers are still at large. The post has triggered mixed reactions online. Some users questioned whether the two situations were really comparable, while others expressed sadness over how differently human and animal lives seem to be valued. One comment bluntly suggested the outcome may have been different if Raza Ali’s family could have offered a similar reward.
Police investigating Raza Ali’s death say they have found signs of financial trouble in his business and are now also looking into the possibility of suicide, though several details still support the murder theory.
