Mehar Bano Says Many Pakistani Dramas Now Use AI-Written Scripts

Pakistani actress Mehar Bano has spoken up about a growing problem in the drama industry: the use of AI-generated scripts. She also touched on the ongoing issue of harassment faced by women working in showbiz.

Mehar Bano is well known for popular dramas like Mere Paas Tum Ho, Bunty I Love You, Mere Humnasheen, Lashkara, Daagh, Balaa, Ghalati, Dastakhat, and Khuda Aur Mohabbat 3. She will soon appear in ARY Digital’s upcoming drama Maidaan. Besides acting, she is recognized as a vocal feminist who often speaks out against unfair treatment of women in the industry.

In a recent conversation, Mehar Bano revealed that a surprising number of dramas currently airing on television are written using artificial intelligence, and admitted she has worked on one such project herself. She called this trend deeply unfair to professional writers who have spent years honing their craft, and said it was one of the reasons she decided to step back from acting for a while.

She also spoke about workplace safety, saying that even after the #MeToo movement brought global attention to harassment, many women in the industry still face serious mistreatment.

She said she has worked alongside people of questionable character over the years and has witnessed troubling behavior directed at young actresses on set. She ended by hoping no young woman ever has to face such experiences again.
