63-Year-Old Woman in Azerbaijan Becomes Mother After 38-Year Wait

A 63-year-old woman in Azerbaijan has become a mother for the first time, ending a 38-year wait since her marriage. The news was shared by Dr Natig Makharramov, a well-known medical researcher, through his official social media account.

The couple had hoped and prayed for a child for 38 years after their wedding. Even as they grew older, moving through their fifties and into their sixties, they never gave up on their dream of becoming parents. After years of infertility treatment, they finally succeeded with the help of advanced assisted reproductive medicine.

Dr Makharramov said the treatment was completed successfully, and he thanked God for the outcome. He shared that the mother was finally able to hold her baby after nearly four decades of waiting, calling it one of the happiest moments he had witnessed in the couple’s life. Both the mother and newborn are reported to be in good health after the delivery.

Doctors note that giving birth after the age of 60 is extremely rare anywhere in the world. Such late pregnancies are usually made possible through Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART), including In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF). Medical experts have called this case one of the notable achievements in reproductive medicine in recent years.

The story has sparked wide discussion in Azerbaijan and around the world, with many praising the couple’s patience and the doctors who helped them. It stands as a reminder that modern medicine continues to expand what was once thought impossible, offering hope to couples who have faced infertility for years.
