Filmmaker Wajahat Rauf recently spoke about his son, singer and actor Aashir Wajahat, and how proud he feels of his growing fame. Rauf jokingly called it “reverse nepotism,” since he is now often recognised because of his son rather than the other way around.
In a recent interview, Rauf shared that he is happy people know him as Aashir’s father. He said this shows how his son has built his own identity and success in the entertainment industry. He recalled that fans used to ask him for pictures, but ever since Aashir released his song “Sadqay,” people are more interested in meeting Aashir instead. Rauf said he is thankful for this change.
He described his son as a down-to-earth person who does not chase fame or trends. Rauf said Aashir has also started helping with the storytelling side of his father’s films. He added that both he and his wife always encouraged their children to focus on their studies while following their passions. Aashir reportedly did well in school and was also made head boy, just like his father.
Rauf also talked about his own journey, calling himself a “failed musician” even though he has played instruments since childhood. He said growing up around musician friends shaped his children’s interest in the arts.
The filmmaker is currently working on his new drama serial “Shaandaar” and is preparing for the release of his upcoming film, “Panchhi Pyare.”
