Veteran Pakistani actor Jan Rambo has opened up about what he calls unfair treatment from the television industry. Known for his comic timing and dancing skills, Jan Rambo has appeared in hundreds of films over the years, often working alongside his wife, fellow film star Sahiba, during the final stretch of the film industry’s golden run.
Like many actors of his generation, Jan Rambo eventually made the shift from films to television dramas. However, he shared that this move came with a downside. Speaking as a guest on Javeria Saud’s show “Javeria Reloaded,” he revealed that the TV industry mostly limited him to comedy roles, rarely giving him a chance to play serious or meaningful characters.
The actor recalled how things were different in the past. He pointed out that stars like Javed Sheikh and Nadeem Baig had been given proper character roles in their younger days, while he and others like him were mostly cast as dancers or for fight scenes. By the time his own turn came to take on bigger roles, the film industry had already started collapsing, leaving him without the same opportunities.
Jan Rambo expressed disappointment that television has not made up for this gap. According to him, he still has the energy and passion to take on substantial roles, but the industry continues to overlook him for anything beyond comic parts. His comments shine a light on a larger issue many veteran actors face when typecasting limits their range, regardless of talent or experience.
