Momina Iqbal Files PECA Case Against PML-N MPA Saqib Chadhar Over Death Threats

Pakistani actress and model Momina Iqbal has taken a bold stand against alleged harassment, leading to a formal case being registered against PML-N Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) Saqib Chadhar, his wife Samira Siddiq, and others.

The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) registered the case under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) over allegations of cyber harassment, blackmail, and threats made against Momina Iqbal and her family members.

According to the FIR, the alleged harassment began after Iqbal rejected a marriage proposal from Chadhar upon discovering he was already married. Following the rejection, she was reportedly subjected to repeated threats, attempts to access her private data, and blackmail involving alleged private videos.

The accused allegedly sent threatening and inappropriate material to Momina Iqbal and her sister via WhatsApp, including explicit videos and death threats.

Making matters worse, the FIR alleged that the provincial lawmaker deleted data and applications from his mobile phone before submitting the device to the NCCIA. Blackmail videos allegedly sent by the lawmaker were recovered from Iqbal’s mobile phone, and digital evidence, including a video provided by Iqbal’s sister, who is a lawyer, has been sent for forensic examination.

A day after the case was registered, Chadhar secured interim pre-arrest bail from a Lahore court, with the judge barring the NCCIA from arresting him until June 24.

The case has sparked a wide public debate about the protection of women from powerful figures.
