Iqrar ul Hassan Apologises to Imran Khan on Eid: ‘I Am Sacrificing My Ego’

In a surprising and emotional move on Eid ul Adha, Pakistani journalist-turned-politician Iqrar ul Hassan issued an unconditional public apology to PTI founder Imran Khan, his family, and his supporters over remarks he made in the past.

Iqrar shared the apology in a video message on X (formerly Twitter), using the spirit of the occasion to reflect on his past behaviour. He said that on Eid ul Adha, while Muslims sacrifice animals, the real sacrifice should come from within. “Today, I am sacrificing my ego,” he said, adding that he was apologising unconditionally to Imran Khan, his family, and his fans.

He admitted that he had made several comments about Imran Khan’s personal life and decisions that he now regrets. He said that while he was personally disappointed as a fan, his conscience told him that such things should not have been said, regardless of political differences.

Iqrar also acknowledged the tension between him and PTI’s social media following, saying he endured an unfollow and block campaign for two years without responding. He also expressed a wish to apologise to Imran Khan in person once he is released from jail, noting that he would not criticise someone who is currently imprisoned.

He ended his message with a broader appeal, asking PTI supporters to reflect on their own behaviour online and urging everyone to focus on the issues facing Pakistan and its people.

Iqrar ul Hassan, 41, is the former host of ARY News’ popular investigative show Sar-e-Aam. He resigned from ARY News in April 2026 after 21 years to launch his own political party, the Pakistan Awam Raj Tehreek.
