Pakistani singer and actor Farhan Saeed has stirred up a fresh debate after sharing his honest opinions about the quality of Bollywood films in a recent interview.
Saeed remarked that only about 2 out of every 100 Bollywood films are truly good, adding that many productions now lean heavily toward propaganda-driven and nationalist narratives rather than genuine storytelling. He expressed concern that this shift is hurting the overall creative quality of Indian cinema.
At the same time, he was careful to point out that comparing the Pakistani and Indian entertainment industries is not entirely fair. India’s enormous population and market size give Bollywood access to significantly larger budgets and resources, while Pakistan’s industry operates on a much smaller scale — a difference that directly affects how much content each industry can produce.
Rather than simply criticising Bollywood, Farhan used the moment to highlight the strength of Pakistani content. He noted that Pakistani dramas and films have already found a loyal audience in India through digital platforms and online streaming, and argued that if Pakistani content were given official, unrestricted access to the Indian market, the impact could be even greater.
His comments have sparked wide conversations on social media, with fans from both Pakistan and India debating content quality, creative freedom, and where regional cinema is headed.
Farhan Saeed is currently working on his upcoming film Luv Di Saun alongside Mamya Shajaffar, expected to release around Eid ul Azha 2026.
