Bollywood actors Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh have welcomed their second child, a baby girl, the couple announced on Instagram on Saturday. The new arrival is a younger sister for their first daughter, Dua, who was born on September 8, 2024.
The couple shared the happy news with a simple photo of the newborn’s foot, captioned “Welcome baby girl” and signed “Dua, Deepika and Ranveer,” along with an evil eye emoji, a common gesture meant to ward off bad luck. The post quickly drew congratulatory messages from several film industry colleagues, including actors Neil Nitin Mukesh, Diana Penty and Bhumi Pednekar.
Padukone and Singh had confirmed they were expecting their second child in April this year through a low-key social media post that featured Dua holding a positive pregnancy test. As with their first pregnancy announcement, the couple kept the message brief and personal rather than issuing a formal statement.
The two actors first met on the sets of the film “Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela” in 2013 and got married on November 14, 2018. Since then, they have become one of Bollywood’s most followed couples, both for their on-screen work and personal life.
Speaking previously about motherhood in an interview with CNBC-TV18, Padukone said the experience had pushed her out of her comfort zone and helped her become more emotionally open, adding that being a mother now felt like her most meaningful role yet.
