Pakistani actress Hajra Yamin is winning hearts far beyond Pakistan, thanks to her outstanding performance in the hit ARY Digital drama Doctor Bahu. The latest praise has come from a very special admirer, Sutapa Sikdar, the widow of legendary Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan.
Sikdar, a Bollywood writer herself, left a comment on an Instagram post by journalist Sadiq Saleem about Yamin’s work in Doctor Bahu, calling the actress an “underrated gem.”
She noted that she had seen Yamin in shows where her co-actors were weak, yet Yamin was “so thorough with her scenes that she really doesn’t need a great co-star.” Sikdar also praised Doctor Bahu as “a well-written and directed show.”
Hajra Yamin was deeply moved by the words. She responded with a heartfelt note, saying: “I’ve been a fan and student of the late Sir Irrfan Khan’s work for as long as I can remember, so this is incredibly special.”
The praise is not limited to India alone. Fellow Pakistani actress Kubra Khan described Hajra as a true powerhouse of talent, while Rabya Kulsoom called it one of the finest performances of Hajra’s career, praising the emotional depth she brought to the role.
Viewers across social media have widely praised Yamin for portraying her character Minna’s pain and heartbreak with realism, without exaggerated reactions, particularly in emotionally intense scenes.
The appreciation from across the border also shows that Pakistani dramas continue to be watched and loved in India, despite political tensions between the two countries. Hajra Yamin’s performance in Doctor Bahu proves that powerful acting truly has no borders.
